This homemade coffee creamer is so delicious and very easy to make! After you make this recipe, you’ll never want to buy coffee creamer from the store again!

I had some of this coffee creamer on hand, in my fridge when a friend came over. She hadn’t ever had homemade coffee creamer as far as I know. I put some of this coffee creamer in her coffee and she loved it! In fact, she asked for seconds and she isn’t even that much of a coffee drinker!

Want a sweet treat to go along with your coffee? Try my egg-free peanut butter cookie recipe! It’s easy and tastes great with a good cup of coffee!

Why I love this recipe

Simple ingredients: The recipe has 5 simple ingredients: sweetened condensed milk, whole milk, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. These are all ingredients that you might even keep on hand all the time!

Dreamy texture: This homemade coffee creamer is also smooth and rich. It’s a little thick, but not too thick that it takes forever to pour into your coffee!

Better for you: This recipe calls for 5 basic ingredients. You can choose if you want to use better quality milk, such as non-homogenized or raw, homemade sweetened condensed milk, natural sea salt, etc.

Make it quick: Lastly, this recipe takes about 5 minutes to mix together. Making it perfect for throwing together in a pinch! 🙂

What is the secret to making good coffee creamer?

The secret to making good coffee creamer is good quality ingredients, think ingredients that are fresh and not expired.

Also, making sure to mix all of the ingredients well, so that you have one consistent, uniform mixture!

Is it healthier to make your own coffee creamer?

It is absolutely healthier to make your own homemade coffee creamer! Why? Because conventional coffee creamers from the store, usually have lots of filler ingredients, preservatives, and sometimes even ingredients that you can’t pronounce.

By making your own coffee creamer, you only need 5 ingredients and you know exactly what they are!

You can find out more about why store bought coffee creamers aren’t exactly ideal by clicking here.

Is it actually worth it to make your own homemade coffee creamer?

Pronounceable ingredients: Avoid ingredients like carrageenan, hydrogenated oils, cellulose gel, and other fillers that aren’t good for you.

Customization: You can control how sweet you’d like your coffee creamer to be! Remember, my recipe measurements are only a suggestion. 🙂

Freshness: You have the freedom to use whatever kind of milk you would like to. So go ahead and use locally-sourced raw milk or non-homogenized if that’s what you’d like.

Why this is the easiest homemade coffee creamer recipe

This recipe is so easy, perfect for even those begging to make their own foods and beverages in the kitchen. It’s the easiest because it only calls for 5 ingredients.

Additionally, you only have to measure everything out and then mix it together and there you have it! No oven, stove, or microwave required!

And if you don’t want to mix it or think it would be easier not to have to mix the ingredients, you can add everything to a glass jar with a tight sealing lid and shake the jar until everything is combined.

Ingredient variations

Something that I love about the from-scratch coffee creamer recipe is that it can be so versatile. I will go into some different ideas below, but once you have your base for the creamer, you can customize your homemade coffee creamer as you please!

Cinnamon vanilla creamer: Add 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon, along with the already called for vanilla extract, for an extra cozy flavor profile.

Maple creamer: Use 2 tablespoons of maple syrup instead of brown sugar to cut out some of the refined sugar.

Honey creamer: Looking for a more floral profiled sweetener? Use 2 tablespoons of honey instead of brown sugar for a lighter sweetener.

Mocha creamer: Whisk in 1 tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder for a mocha-style creamer! And bonus, add a couple drops of peppermint extract to taste for a peppermint mocha coffee creamer.

Almond vanilla creamer: Add 1/4 teaspoon almond extract, for a classic rich and nutty flavor.

Extra creamy version: Replace the milk with half-and-half for a creamer that’s thicker and richer.

Notes

How to store
Fridge: You can store your coffee creamer in the fridge for about 7-10 days. Be sure to shake or stir well before using.
Tips and tricks
Shake instead of mix: Instead of mixing everything together with a whisk or other mixing utensil, add the ingredients to a jar with a lid that screws on tightly. Then give the ingredients a good shake until everything is dissolved.
Whole milk for creaminess: If you are wanting the creamiest texture possible, use whole milk.
Warm slightly: If sugar doesn’t dissolve all the way, you can slightly warm the milk before mixing to help dissolve stubborn brown sugar.
Dairy-free: Want a dairy-free version? Use coconut milk and sweetened condensed coconut milk instead.
Label: To ensure that your coffee creamer is as fresh as possible, be sure to label the expiration date on the jar/container.
Storage: You can use a plastic container to store the coffee creamer, but I recommend using a glass jar or container if possible. Glass jars are non-pours and chemical free.
