Are you looking for a quick and easy drink that will keep you hydrated and feeling refreshed? Well the search is over because I have the perfect drink for you! My blueberry lemonade with electrolytes is a great drink to cool off with, especially in the summer. It’s a fun twist on classic lemonade, and is super easy to make!

The blueberry lemonade that I made, turned out to be a thicker consistency. Almost like a smoothie consistency, if I am to be specific. Nevertheless, this drink makes for the perfect summertime, or anytime, refresher! Also, my family loved this drink and we had none leftover.

One nice thing about this recipe is that you will probably have most of the ingredients, if not all of them, already in your kitchen. And if for some reason you don’t have something, you would most likely be able to use an alternative ingredient. Additionally, I go more in depth about alternative ingredients towards the end of this post.

What does blueberry lemonade taste like?

Blueberry lemonade is the perfect balance between sweet and tart. I mostly tasted the blueberries when I made mine, because blueberries seem to have a more dominant flavor. Also, one nice thing about this recipe is that you can use any sweetener of your choosing. I went with maple syrup because I wanted to share this delicious drink with my daughter who isn’t over a year old yet. However, I would have normally used locally sourced honey. Additionally, cane sugar is another good option too if that’s all you have on hand for a sweetener.

What are the benefits of blueberry lemonade?

Blueberries are known for their antioxidants as well as having lots of minerals and vitamins. Lemons are high in Vitamin C and fiber. Also, both blueberries and lemons are said to potentially reduce the risk of some cancers. And that’s just a brief summary of the two fruits! There’s much more information on blueberries and lemons. What are the benefits of electrolytes?

Furthermore, electrolytes are known for their ability to help you stay hydrated and they can also help the body to fix damaged tissue. You can click here, to find out more of the benefits that electrolytes have to offer. In the recipe, you will find that I use a concentrated bottle of ConcenTrace Trace Minerals for my source of electrolytes. Another option for electrolytes, however, is using either authentic sea salt or pink Himalayan Salt, which you can find at most grocery stores.

Tips

What’s more, if you want to make the blueberry lemonade look nice, you could garnish the drink with some mint leaves. I was able to find some fresh mint leaves from my local Walmart. However, basil would be a good alternative. Also, if you want to step-up the beverage even more, you could do a cute lemon peel garnish on the edge of the cup! Moreover, this blog is a great resource if you want to learn how to make a lemon peel garnish, and it’s where I was able to learn how to make my own lemon peel garnish. Lastly, if you want to feel extra fancy, find some fun cups to drink out of; these can be cups that you already own or maybe some new ones!

A lemon cut in half on a cutting board with mint leaves.

Blueberry Lemonade Ingredients

1 cup of frozen blueberries

3 whole lemons, peeled

1 cup of water

4 teaspoons of maple syrup (or a sweetener of your choice) and make sure that if you use honey, not to give the blueberry lemonade to a baby under the age of one.

10 drops of ConcenTrace Trace Mineral Drops (or a couple pinches of either sea salt or pink Himalayan Salt)

about 2 to 3 ice cubes (depending on how big your ice cubes are)

mint leaves to garnish (optional)

lemon peel garnish (optional)

Equipment Needed

Blender

Measuring cups and spoons

Cutting board

Knife

Straw or chopstick (optional, this will be used to make the lemon peel garnish)

Lemon slices, a half of a lemon, and a quarter of a lemon with mint leaves and blueberries on a cutting board.

How to make Blueberry Lemonade

1: Add your ice cubes, peeled lemons, blueberries, water, sweetener, and ConcenTrace Trace Mineral Drops (or salt) to your blender.

2: Blend your ingredients until everything is completely mixed together and you like how the consistency turned out. Again, the consistency of mine turned out to be thicker, like a smoothie.

3: Make your lemon peel garnish if you want (optional).

4: Pour the blueberry lemonade into some of your favorite cups, garnish if you would like, and enjoy. Make sure to drink within a few days for the freshest taste!

Events to Serve Blueberry Lemonade

Here are some ideas for when you could serve blueberry lemonade:

Pool Party

Camp Fire

Birthday Party

Garden Party

The Beach

Baby Shower

Graduation Party

Baseball Game

Or any other event! If you were going somewhere without a refrigerator, you could just pour the blueberry lemonade into a container with a lid and put it in a portable cooler.

Ingredient Substitutions

Like I said above, you could use basil leaves instead of mint leaves. Additionally, you could use a sweetener other then maple syrup, such as cane sugar or honey. Also, coconut water would also make a great base, but it might slightly alter the taste of the beverage. If you have a favorite type of juice, you could try that as well. Lastly, the nice thing about this recipe is that you can experiment and try other substitutions to fit your dietary needs and/or fit your taste preferences!

Another idea would be to mix the blueberry lemonade with iced tea. You could make yourself a refreshing Blueberry Lemonade Arnold Palmer!

Or, if you end up having some of the blueberry lemonade leftover, you could pour the drink into a popsicle mold to have for later!
